A Love Nest In Limpopo (22)

“Eh suster, re no kwa sethunya and then ge re tšwela kantle re kreile die man a bodile. Gwa bitšwa maphodisa le ambulance, mara wa tseba maphodisa ba tla fihla ka nako ya bona…ke neng re eme?” (Eh sister, we just heard a gunshot and then when we got outside we found this man dead. Cops and the paramedics were called, but you know the police will arrive at their own time…How long have we been waiting?”) Madifako wished she could go to the police officer infront of her to ask him several questions but her instinct was refusing to get involved before she gathered as much information on the scene as possible. Fortunately she noticed Motlatjo's car even in the dark parking next to her car several houses away and she decided to join her best friend and figure things out. "Chomi, thanks for coming." "What the hell is going on here Madifako?" "Eish, I am not too sure. Maggy was threatening to tell Trevor everything and I intercepted a conversation between them on the phone and put Magwaza on the job to ruffle Maggy's feathers." "My friend, is this your idea of ruffling feathers? How dirty can you get and why would Magwaza leave such a mess. Has he called you?" Madifako shook her head and started crying. "No no no no...you are not going to be crying right now? Where is Trevor?" "He is driving from Giyani now and should be here in an hour." " Shit, ok...We need to get to the bottom of this before Trevor gets here. Anything else that you think I should know?" "Yeah, I asked Magwaza to leave Trevor's key under the big rock next to the gate and the small phone behind the fridge after destroying the sim card...Motlatjo I can't breathe." "You are going to breathe and compose yourself and we clean this mess up NOW. Here's the plan, check the cabby-hole there in front of you;there is a new sim card. Let's get airtime and locate your phone. If it's off then we know it's behind the fridge and if it rings then it's another issue to deal with. Madifako hurriedly got the sim card into a phone handed over to her by Motlatjo who was in full criminal swing making a call here and there for back up. As soon as the phone was ready the friends walked towards the crime scene and Motlatjo took the phone and backed away a bit from where Madifako was approcahing the scene and made the call hoping that the phone will not ring but it did...LOUDLY SO, under the sheet covering the body. Madifako wanted to run to the body and grab that phone and disappear with it but that was impossible. The ringing of the phone was exciting to the cops because they scrammed to the body hands covered in gloves one wanting to find the ringing phone and the other calling out for a plastic bag to collect the phone as evidence. Motlatjo hung the phone up immediately upon realizing that the phone she called was the one ringing under the white sheet. She immediately dismantled the phone she was using and removed the sim card and chewed it. Motlatjo grabbed Madifako by the arm and yanked her away from the onlookers and informed her that she needs to go in that scene and distract the cops from focusing on the phone and inform them of who she is and explain that her boyfriend called her informing her of what was happening and asked her to check on the scene as he's still making his way from Giyani. "What? I cannot go there shaking like a leaf like this Motlatjo..." "You are going to stop shaking and you are going to do as I tell you if you don't want to find yourself in jail" Motlatjo was as firm and instructive as the Don Mafia that Madifako met many years ago. She knew that her only best bet was to trust her friend and do as instructed.
