A Love Nest In Limpopo (12)

Motlatjo fell onto the couch and turned pale. “Madifako, Maanda is that guy I was secretly seeing and was not able to tell you who he is because he is married. Maanda ke motho waka mokgotse.” (Maanda is my boyfriend friend)
Madifako could not believe what her best friend has just said. They both sat next to each other staring at the television but seeing nothing. Motlatjo put her hand on Madifako’s thigh and said, “My friend, you need to go and see a doctor because the last time I was with Maanda I got a vaginal reaction which forced me to see Dr. McNeal the gynecologist and I await my results because we suspected a serious STD.”
“What? Why did you never tell me this?”
“I was embarrassed my friend and I did not know that you were also involved with my man.”
“I am not involved with that sick man, I got caught up by emotion and got drunk and lost all logic. I feel sick!” Madifako dashed to the toilet and threw up. She could not believe what was happening. When she got out Motlatjo had returned to the house from her car to collect 2 bottles of wine…they both needed it! The girls sat on the floor and drowned their sorrows in wine whilst sharing stories they should have shared way before tonight. They cried and cursed and laughed and cried some more.
“Have you taken a pregnancy test Madifako?”
“Not yet. The reason I called you was to tell you about this and for you to be here with me when I take the test. I have it now.”
“So what are you waiting for?”
“Morning…”
“It’s 2am that’s morning enough in my books go take that pee!”
Madifako took the pregnancy test and it came out negative. Relief never felt that good and she was grateful that she was not pregnant. Her concern now was Motlatjo’s results which meant that she had another issue to worry about. “How did we get here Motlatjo?”
“Well, when Maanda asked me for my friends’ numbers to try and recruit them to sell Forever Living products I did not think that part of his recruitment meant sleeping with my friends. I am upset with him my friend, I just want to call that stupid fool and give him a piece of my mind.”
“No don’t…just walk away from him and forget that he even existed.”
“I wish it was that easy because I love him Fako.” Motlatjo broke into tears and cried with her head on Madifako’s lap until they both passed out! The alarm went off at 08:00 reminding Madifako of her first appointment at 09:00. She hurried to the bedroom and started getting ready for her client. She woke Motlatjo up, who seemed to be carrying two heads as she could not get up from the floor. “Yohhh mokgotse ke sa tagilwe. Ke nako mang? (My friend I am still drunk. What time is it?)
“Quarter past 8 and I have a client coming at 09:00. Let me jump into the shower.”
“Ok, I will not be going into the office feeling like this. Let me call my boss and excuse myself.” Madifako jumped into the shower and got ready for her client. Motlatjo went to the kitchen to prepare a concoction that will help with the hangover they both were probably feeling. As she was busy in the kitchen there was a knock on Madifako’s door and Madifako shouted from her bedroom for Motlatjo to ‘get the door please.’
When Motlatjo opened the door, her heart stopped beating for a moment as she stood face to face with the woman who has threatened her before to stay out of her way. Maggy Mudau could not believe her eyes either because Motlatjo was the last woman she expected to find in a space she considered therapeutic. Maggy saw RED and all the anger she ever felt in the 15 years of her unhappy marriage with Maanda came gushing back to life and Maggy lost it. Without even saying anything to Motlatjo she lunged into the house fist first which landed on Motlatjo’s left eye and all hell broke loose. Motlatjo and Maggy had a piece of each other for what felt like hours until Madifako came running into the lounge shocked at the chaos that was in her house with her best friend on top of her client exchanging blows. Madifako managed to get between the ladies and asked: “Ladies!!! What the hell? Stop it before I call the police on both of you. Motlatjo what is going on here?”
“Well, you should be asking this bitch who just started attacking me for nothing.”
Maggy was hyper ventilating with her eyes locked onto Motlatjo and said, “Madifako, I am sorry for this and I am not attacking this whore for nothing but this woman has given me grief in my marriage for some time now.” Madifako’s worst nightmare was unfolding right before her eyes in her lounge. The suspicion that Maggy Mudau could be Maanda’s wife was confirmed but the problem was that she was attacking her best friend not knowing that she too should be getting a piece of this violent pie.
Madifako asked Motlatjo to go to the bedroom so that she could have a word with her client. Motlatjo obliged cursing at the top of her voice while Maggy was trying to put her arm back into what has suddenly become a sleeveless dress which was torn by Motlatjo. Madifako asked Maggy to sit down and went to the kitchen to get her a glass of water. Maggy sat down and as she looked at Madifako tears gathered in her eyes and cried as she was apologizing profusely.
“Madifako I am so sorry…I don’t know what came over me. When I saw that bitch…”
“Uhm that bitch is a friend of mine and I don’t appreciate you coming into my house and wreaking the havoc that you did in my space.”
“I am really sorry…I need to get out of here! I will call you again and we can make a proper arrangement to meet and talk thoroughly about this. Right now I just want to go home.”
